Laura Valojärvi (M.A.) is an illustrator, educator and researcher with a focus on book illustrations. Her Doctor of Arts thesis – Why Picturebooks Matter? Researching the Significance of Picturebooks from the Perspective of Children’s Book Illustrators and their Creative Practice – analyses, interprets and tries to understand the knowledge behind the work of a children’s book illustrator.
Laura has worked as an illustrator for several Finnish publishers, organizations and companies since 2008. Laura is an active member of the Association of Finnish Illustrators and has worked as their cabinet member since 2014.
Laura has also been teaching in Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture since 2011. She is in charge of the Illustration Minor studies at the Department of Media.
